Why not steal something and be right, rather than write something and be wrong? Let’s talk about it.
It’s been years since I genuinely wrote something more than a social update, or #hashtagthis. I’ve been thinking about getting back to the basics, but I’m worried that my chops are too dusty and should be thrown out for the junkyard dog to gnaw on after he’s given his balls a good cleaning.
In a world where ancient hieroglyphs confuse scholars, but a poop emoji can be translated by inference – in multitude, the written word in its purest form has faltered. We are hampered by temperamental attention spans that sink below the surface of understanding if grammar, spelling, and perhaps a bit of originality take the forefront over phonetic shorthands.
Originality is a challenge when you’re challenged with meeting the standards of others. It’s all been done, all of it.
Today, what I write is right for me. I don’t have to make others happy.
