I have been an Evernote fiend for quite some time now. I downloaded it in 2009 and used it sparingly for a couple of years, not genuinely realizing its potential. Then a couple of years ago, I came across a master class online and combined the powers of GTD (Getting Things Done) with Evernote and haven’t looked back. Between my business account and my account, I have over 12,000 notes.
Unique Uses
As the Director of Marketing, it’s essential for me to follow social trends and how our community uses them in relation to our business. One way I’m able to focus on community input is through the use of IFTTT, Instagram, and Evernote. (This also works with Twitter, Facebook, etc … )
By creating a rule, I can geographically track Instagram posts immediately around my facilities. Also, I’m able to track hashtags as well. When someone posts from one of my facilities or uses a specific hashtag, IFTTT automatically creates a new note in Evernote with the image and comment. This allows me to track what’s being posted about my organization and provides a historical record.
Speaking of historical records, you can also use IFTTT and Evernote to archive every Twitter tweet and Instagram and Facebook posts as well. You’d be surprised at how handy this can be.
Full Sail & Evernote
While the above is a business case use, I use several ways I use Evernote in my personal life. One of which is for classes here at Full Sail. When a new course begins, I create a notebook, and then I make individual notes for each assignment. Within that note, I put the information provided and attach the downloadable documents as well. Once I’ve completed the project, I attach that (.pdf, .zip, comments, posts, etc … ) to the note. This allows me to manage, maintain, track, and have immediate access to the material wherever I am in the world.
So, this is just a couple of thoughts on and a couple of ways to use Evernote.
